Residential MLIS Program
The Residential Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program is designed to provide on-campus courses for students in the Seattle area. The MLIS program is a full-time degree program that generally requires two calendar years to complete. The average course load for graduate study is three to four courses each quarter. Ten credits is the minimum load for students who must satisfy certain financial aid requirements.
The degree requirements (core courses, electives, and portfolio/thesis) are identical for the Residential and Distance MLIS programs.
Curriculum for the Residential MLIS program is delivered in the traditional classroom setting. The MLIS program follows the UW Academic Calendar. The academic calendar shows registration periods, dates of instruction, final examination schedules, and other important dates.
