Employer Connections Fair: Overview

Join us at the 1st annual Information School Employer Connections Fair on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the University of Washington. This career fair will take place from 1:00-5:00 pm in Mary Gates Hall (MGH) Commons. Hosted by The Information School, the Employer Connections Fair is designed to provide iSchool students and alumni with the opportunity to connect with employers on career opportunities, job openings, internship and fieldwork placements, and research.
For a list of participating employers click here. The 2008 Information School Employer Connections Fair is hosted by The Boeing Company, Multnomah County Library, The Seattle Public Library, and SerialsSolutions.
The fair is open to all Information School students, as well as to the rest of the UW student body. Business or business-casual attire is suggested; please also bring copies of your resume to share.

Companies and organizations that participate in the iSchool Employer Connections Fair have the opportunity to:
- Connect with over 650 current iSchool students
- Market your organization to the University of Washington campus
- Advertise your current job openings, internships, and fieldworks
- Recruit information leaders and innovators of the future
This event will be a good way for your organization to develop relationships with outstanding students in the information field who are potential future interns and employees in your organization. Additionally, your participation in this event will provide you with free marketing to our students.
Students are looking for internships or positions in a variety of areas: project management, information organization, web development, knowledge management, systems analysis, archives, technology management, reference and information services, software development, taxonomy, cataloging, information assurance, preservation administration, information architecture, user interface design, solutions consulting, information systems, corporate records management, human-computer interaction, metadata, children and youth services, information policy, etc.

Students
Students are encouraged to come prepared with resumes and ready to make connections with the featured employers. The career fair is free to students and alumni; registration is not required for participants. The Information School will be offering workshops to prep students for navigating through the fair. The Employer Connections Fair is also the kick-off event of iCareer Week 2008, hosted by the UW Chapter of ASIS&T. For more information and how to prepare, see the Student Information page.
